East Point Energy Joins Green Business Alliance

East Point Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Equinor, recently joined the second cohort of the Green Business Alliance, a project of the Community Climate Collaborative (C3). C3 is an organization based out of Charlottesville, VA that helps people and businesses take action and lead on climate through the organization’s programs, policy research, and advocacy. East Point joins nine other local Charlottesville organizations and companies in this cohort, which represents a collective commitment to reduce emissions and advance our economy for a clean energy future. In 2021, the sixteen member companies of the first cohort of the Green Business Alliance (GBA) committed to a collective emissions reduction target of 45% by 2025. This second cohort of ten member companies has committed to a 35% emissions reduction by 2027. Each member company also has an individual pledge to take action, ranging from a minimum of 30% and a maximum of 90%.

“Our GBA members aren’t making hollow pledges,” said C3 Executive Director, Susan Kruse.  “They are coming to the table ready to take action and are achieving significant greenhouse gas emissions reductions. C3 is here to support them every step of the way.”

East Point Energy’s team and the company’s battery energy storage projects are working to make the grid more renewable and resilient for generations to come. As part of Equinor’s renewable arm, East Point’s work is an important part of it’s parent company’s commitment to becoming net zero by 2050.

“East Point Energy is committed to the energy transition and working to make the grid more renewable and resilient. This opportunity to work in collaboration with the Community Climate Collaborative and other companies in our own community towards living more lightly day to day is an important part of our journey in ensuring sustainability for generations to come.” said East Point Energy’s CEO, Andrew Foukal.
